Rihanna - Vibe Magazine - My 1st Cover!

It was a warm summer day.  I was doing my usual at Habana Outpost where I sold Cubannie Links at an outdoor market in my neighborhood of Fort Greene.  Pretty usual day, I was successful in getting a nice tan while I work in the sun! I didn't make much money after paying my booth rental which was $50, so I was pretty bumbed about cash.  As I packed up to walk home I received a call from a stylist.  She asked me if I can come by to the studio where she was styling for the cover of Vibe Vixen Magazine August 08 issue.  She told me Rihanna loved her (the stylist that called me) necklace so much and wanted to borrow it for the shoot.  Of course the stylist said yes!   It was told to me that Rihanna was asking about this Cubannie Links Character and how she could get herself some!  Of course I was one phone call away.  So I jumped in a cab that I could not afford and headed to a studio on the westside of the meatpacking.
So I get there, kinda nervous and unsure what was going to happen.  As Ri-Ri was getting primped in a the Marco Hall Cat Suit that made the cover, I was just hanging around waiting, nervously texting my mom and sisters with just excitement.  I definitely played it cool.  I'm totally not star-stuck...NOT!  Not too long after the stylist introduced me to Rihanna as the jewelry designer she wanted to meet!  So I laid out all my jewelry, I just so happened to have tons and tons of jewelry (very rare these days) and she skimmed though it like she was on the fastest shopping spree of her life.  I'm sure she has practice with all that funny money she's making!  Little did she know, no matter how much I needed to make some money, if she shoveled my jewelry by the pound into her bag,  I wouldn't have asked her to pay me!  But she has class and appreciation and asked me how much was everything!  When I told her, she gladly paid and complimented my collection.  She gave me a big hug and told me she loved me which I thought was kinda strange.  I was like Whoa Nelly (like Ray Charles would say)! It's ok, a purchase can make you feel overwhelmed with happiness, much like the relief an addict gets after getting a fix.
So it turned out that the stylist gave her the rosary Rihanna "borrowed".  The Rosary made the cover, I made sales to some of the Vibe Vixen folk, I made new stylist friends and I made some money!  That cab ride home definitely didn't hurt as much as the cab ride there.  Funny how you're luck can change in a split second.  Also the Vibe Vixen Mag that this whole story was about turned out to be the final issue.  How Lucky am I?
